The Early Childhood Support & Family Care Program promotes the healthy development, safety, and well-being of young children while strengthening the capacity of refugee and immigrant parents and caregivers. Through early learning support, parenting education, child health promotion, developmental screening referrals, family resource navigation, and quality childcare support, the program helps children build a strong foundation for lifelong learning and success while empowering families to thrive.
Impact: Supporting healthy child development, strengthening families, improving school readiness, promoting child safety, and helping refugee and immigrant children reach their full potential in nurturing and resilient families.

The Baby Shower Community Support Program supports expectant mothers, newborns, and families by improving access to maternal and infant health education, essential baby supplies, parenting resources, and community support. Through community baby showers, health education workshops, and partnerships with healthcare providers, public agencies, nonprofits, and local businesses, the program helps families prepare for childbirth, promote healthy child development, and build strong support networks.

Learn more about our history and how we got started. We are passionate about empowering communities and making a difference in people's lives.
Every baby deserves a healthy start, and every parent deserves the support of a caring community.
Every baby deserves a healthy start, and every parent deserves the
.support of a caring community.
For many refugee and immigrant families, welcoming a new baby comes with unique challenges. Many parents arrive in the United States after experiencing conflict, displacement, or prolonged hardship. As they begin rebuilding their lives, they often face barriers such as limited income, unfamiliar healthcare systems, language differences, and a lack of family support networks.
The Baby Shower Community Event, led by the United Swahili Refugee Women and Youth Empowerment Center (USRWYEC), was created to ensure that no family begins this journey alone. More than a celebration, the event connects expectant parents and families with essential baby supplies, maternal and infant health education, child passenger safety information, parenting resources, and trusted community partners who can provide ongoing support.
By bringing together healthcare providers, nonprofit organizations, public agencies, businesses, and volunteers, we create a welcoming space where families receive practical assistance, build meaningful relationships, and gain access to resources that promote healthy pregnancies, safe births, and strong early childhood development.
Our Baby Shower Community Event reflects our belief that investing in mothers, babies, and families strengthens the entire community. Together, we are giving every child the opportunity to begin life with dignity, hope, and the support they need to thrive.

Improving maternal and infant health, increasing access to essential resources, strengthening parenting knowledge, reducing barriers to care, and ensuring refugee and immigrant families have the support they need to give every child a healthy, safe, and successful start in life.
